"For Leopard, the Automator variation is called “Watch Me Do,” and it’s supposed to operate even with applications that aren’t script savvy." For a lot of users this may in fact turn out to be a major reason for upgrading to Leopard. I doubt that it will make up for the absence of Excel-like macros in Numbers, but this is something genuinely new and useful (there are plenty of good backup apps out there for those who aren't too lazy to use them, and there are several semi-good multi-desk apps., it remains to be seen whether Spaces is genuinely better).

Thanks for bringing up Font Book.

I'm a graphic designer still using an original dual G5 and have always run the latest OSX releases.

Earlier versions of Font Book were a total nightmare to use and to this day I am still gun shy over that experience. Luckily Suitcase came to the rescue and still works great.

You will be doing many of us a favor by candidly evaluating the Leopard version of Font Book and telling us if it can be trusted as a Font management tool that doesn't, for whatever reason, destabilize the entire system.

The fact that it's a system feature, rather than a third-party add-on, gives me reason to feel encouraged.

But, yes, I will check into this. I've a huge library of Adobe fonts from the days I was doing desktop publishing work for several clients, so I will give it a run-through with the usual offenders (Adobe InDesign and QuarkXPress).

Peace,
Gene
