Hi,

Thanks for enlightening the topic. Some Common problem with MAC is hard disk crash, unknown bugs, Mac OS problem, or a more unexpected hardware failure. This all cause loss of data in MAC. To avoid this situation we can use Stellar phoenix Data Recovery Mac software which recover your files, photos, music & videos from almost all instances of data loss in MAC system.''

Thanks

It's a serious bug, but it only comes into play when the User deliberately by-passes a fail safe to save time. Also, I would anticipate that it would be pretty easy for Apple programmers to fix. One could almost make an Applescript that would fix the problem.

I would presume that a properly-designed system of this sort would allow for integrity-checking, to make sure that a moved file has copied successfully before the original is deleted. I suppose that's where this setup is failing, that the file system isn't reporting the situation accurately. Oh well, we'll see how it all plays out.

Peace,

I've been a mac user for 17 years and though I know you can use the move command, I'd never recommend it on anything other than small files. Furthermore, as an experienced Windows admin, I can tell you that Windows certainly suffers from the same "problem".

Don't use the move function with anything you highly value, and never over a network connection. Whether it's Mac or PC, you'll regret it if you even get a network hic-up, much less a power loss. It's just as easy to copy and delete.

Thanks for the enlightenment.

The only thing that concerns me is the claim this is a long-standing bug, and why there haven't been widespread complaints up till now. All this is being used as ammunition for the "Leopard is a mess" brigade.

Peace,
Gene

Yes, Apple should fix it quickly, but as a Mac user since 1988, I never even noticed the "move" function. I have always used copy and then delete. It never occured to me to do it any differently.

The first time I ever saw "move" was on a Windows machine, so it makes me wonder if "switchers" are the ones who have the problem since they tend to try to do things the Windows way even after switching.
