I found the event to be completely underwhelming. I think it’s ridiculous that Apple would spend their corporate resources to roll out what were at best evolutionary product bumps. If I were a journalist I would have been pissed to have wasted my day on that non-story. I almost wondered if they initially were planning on rolling out more, but then pulled back, worried about another premature release (a la dotMe).

Now, to be fair, the “Genius” feature is exceptionally cool, and it got into my pocket for almost $30.00 last night playing with it.

Even though this was announced as a music event, it is easy to see why the financial community’s response was “yawn”. There was simply nothing much there other than a rather routine update of the iPods. Arguably the “genius” feature in iTunes is something noteworthy, but it certainly is not something that would leave an analyst impressed.

Apple have, yet again, failed to refresh their major computer lines in time for the “back to school” buying cycle. That is why the response was essentially negative.

Looking at Mr. Jobs’ physical appearance, I suspect the financial community is wondering just how long he will be able to continue in his current capacity. He did not look good.

I suspect that the non-Apple press is feeling a bit used as there simply was not that much of note presented.

I was not at all surprised at the presentation, but felt it might have had some more sparkle. As I said, “one more thing.”

Geez, the only thing I see as a possible disappointment is no AppleTV announcement. At least THAT product has something to do with music.

Why disappointment about no laptop announcements? This event was about MUSIC! Wasn’t the multi-story banner of the iPod ad enough to clue these brainless idiots in?

This wasn’t a mere speed bump, it was a complete re-tooling of the iPod lineup. Only the Shuffle was neglected, and that neglect only applies to its being left off of the keynote – it WAS redone, AND the price dropped!

This will undoubtedly result in more iPod sales this holiday season, which was the intention.

Geez, people, at least you can wait for the computer event to be disappointed he didn’t talk about the iPods…!
